INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Last season, David Carr failed to lead the Houston Texans to a touchdown in two meetings against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts .
On Sunday, Carr gets another crack against Manning and the Colts as the Houston Texans visit the RCA Dome in a clash between AFC South Division rivals.
It is the third meeting between the two quarterbacks, who both were top overall picks in the NFL draft. Manning was taken first overall in 1998 and Carr was the initial player chosen by the Texans in 2002.
Manning outplayed Carr in the two matchups last season in leading the Colts to a pair of wins.
In a 23-3 victory at Houston, Manning completed 21-of-28 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Carr went just 12-of-22 for 99 yards with an interception while getting sacked four times.
On December 1, Manning went 15-of-28 for 190 yards and a touchdown in leading the Colts to a 19-3 win. Carr was 20-of-35 for 137 yards and was sacked six times.
It may be another challenge for Carr to get things going against the Colts, who are improved defensively this season and rank 10th in the NFL in scoring defense at 17.5 points per game.
Last week, Carr completed 15-of-23 passes for 170 yards in a 19-14 loss to the New York Jets . Rookie Domanick Davis led the ground game by carrying 27 times for 129 yards while adding nine catches for 70 yards.
The Colts are coming off their bye after enduring their first loss of the season two weeks ago, a 23-20 overtime defeat to Carolina. Indianapolis' last two games have gone into overtime.
Against the Panthers, Manning completed 23-of-34 passes for 293 yards and a touchdown with an interception.
Manning will be hoping to have running back Edgerrin James back for this contest. James (5,176 yards), who has missed the last three games with back problems, needs 19 yards to surpass Eric Dickerson (5,194) for third most in club history.
